Most of this is good but the “50 million years” number is complete garbage. Please don’t just quote a number you see somewhere without understanding whether it’s based on sound science and math or BS.
Glad other people can “look up,” because all I see around me is denial. Older Americans are less familiar with climate change science, and they need to lose power asap for us to save the earth. We need to STOP gas combustion globally and immediately. Disband US Dept of War (Number One Climate Killer) before the name change takes hold.
Okay it does appear I misunderstood-you are referring to the Exeter report instead of your own views. To me, the Exeter report reads as "we are anticipating a 60-90% chance of disastrous outcomes if action is not taken and the current path continues" instead of "we will almost certainly experience these outcomes". The report itself also says no other analyses were being undertaken to support it

I don’t want to let the Fascists off the hook but the problem may be bigger than fascism, i.e., bigger than whoever is in charge. Someone recently wrote on Substack something like, “if the socialists come to power they’ll still build data centers ‘for the people’”. I’m not so sure I agree (I think it DOES matter who’s in power) but I get the point.
So, yeah, the Machine wants to turn us into little machines while it gobbles up the ecosphere. There are many ways to resist but I think it starts right where you ended with “solidarity, kindness, and compassion.” Keep up the good work!

More recent data and articles suggest that there are 415 dead zones in the world (https://www.cfoch.org/research/dead-zones) rather than the over 500 figure you presented. Thanks for the reply. I like to keep good news sources on hand to help temper the overwhelming feelings of helplessness and doom.
